IIT JEE is one of India’s most important and prestigious entrance exams for engineering aspirants. Excelling the IIT JEE helps aspirants’ study and learn from the most prestigious institutes like IITs, NITs and IIITs. The dream of getting admissions in these institutes leads to an important decision for students and parents: When to start preparing for IIT JEE? From which standard of learning should the aspirant begin IIT JEE preparation?

Getting into the mentioned institutes by cracking IIT-JEE is not easy, and the popularity of getting into one of these institutes is upgrading day by day. We can also say that there is a cut-throat competition. IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) are the most honoured engineering colleges in India, and having a degree from these career-building systems is a dream of many aspirants. Experienced faculties, cherished infrastructure, career-building opportunities, corporate and placement tie-ups are some of the necessary things that make the IITs most preferred and cherished.

Admission into these reputed institutions is done through JEE Advanced exam, and to become an applicant for the exam, the aspirant needs to clear the JEE Main exam. Thus, the candidate must excel for both the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. The exam covers the syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics sections. The exam syllabus is mostly taken from class XI and class XII levels. Thus, starting the IIT JEE preparation in class XI is recommended for better results. If done so, the candidate gets in-depth knowledge about the topics and has two years of preparation time. Some key points on the benefits, preparation tips, and reasons why starting the preparation in class XI is optimum for the candidate.

There are many advantages of starting your IIT JEE Preparation in class XI. The preparation initiated early can;

  1. Give you time for longer consistent practice and doubt clearance early. It will help you to make your basics clear and strong.

  3. Early preparation will help you avoid the hustling of completing your syllabus at the last moment and provide you with enough time to solve more problems.
  4. It will help you make better and well-maintained notes which will be extremely helpful to you for revision.

It’s advised to enrol in a reputed institute to clear your doubts and prepare for the IIT JEE exam. Vigyas is one of the best institutes to guide the exam. When a candidate is promoted to enter class 11, there is a big gap between class 10 and class 11 subjects and the syllabus, which has to be filled with clear concepts and good knowledge about the subjects. Students who join a perfect institute for their learning have the upper hand in getting good help from teachers. As a result, it becomes slightly easier for the candidates to crack the IIT-JEE examination.

  1. Know the Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Try to understand the exam pattern and syllabus of both JEE Main and JEE Advanced for better knowledge about the subjects and marks distribution of the chapters.

2.    Make a Study Plan

Plan a strategic study plan to cover and get through the entire syllabus. Make small and easy targets of some topics to complete in one week, one month, three months, etc. Also, maintain a proper timetable for revision and mock tests in your weekly study plan.

3.    Clear the Basic Concepts

The early you start, the more practical approach you get. A better understanding of the concepts is crucial for better results. Ensure proper understanding of pattern and syllabus and the basic concepts in depth. Take guidance from your mentors in case of any doubts. While learning the topics as part of your school curriculum, it will be easier and wiser to know the concepts. NCERT books have always been considered the best learning aspects to clear the basic concepts.

While going through any topic or chapter, ensure that you make appropriate and clear notes related to the topic. These notes will be helpful till the time of your exam. It will be of great help to even revise the topics at the last point or stage and for quick revision before the examination.

5.    Stay Motivated

Preparing for the IIT entrance exam is difficult and can be exhausting for the candidate. It is highly recommended to be focused and determined for the examination. The aspirant might sometimes feel distracted by other subject lines or try to switch to another stream when low on energy. But, always remember that these are only different attractions. So, it is important to stay motivated and focused for your exam. Set your goal and work hard daily to achieve it. Writing your goal on a paper or shaping a visual image of achieving your goal and pasting it in your study room will help you stay inspired and increase your motivation.

One of the utmost important yet frequently neglected points is Self-care. It is always proven that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Therefore, the candidate must have healthy food and a night of sound sleep for a healthy mind. Also, it is highly recommended to involve in certain activities that relax your mind, like yoga, meditation, or any sports activity.

Following are some of the important reasons that should be kept in mind while preparing for IIT-JEE in class XI. It is the answer to why it is the optimum decision to initiate your preparation in class XI:

  • The JEE Main and Advanced syllabus topics start from class XI and XII syllabus.
  • The candidate will be comfortable learning for IIT-JEE & Boards both, as they will get enough time to focus on both. The student will already have completed the syllabus until the board preparation pressure arrives.
  • It would be very helpful for the students to seek help from subject teachers on various topics.
  • School tests and assessments will be a great help to check your preparation.
  • The candidate will benefit from the school library, which will amazingly help them issue reference books and study materials and quiet study time.

  • And last but not the least, the candidate can save a year after class XII, which they normally drop out for preparation.

At Vigyas strongly believe that 11th grade is the optimum time to start your IIT-JEE preparations. And there are many logical reasons behind it. The IIT – JEE exam generally judges the applicant on three subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Every subject has a specific syllabus of approximately 30 chapters each! This means the student has approximately 90 chapters to prepare for the examination. When the student starts their preparation from 11th class, they have approximately 1.5 years for their first JEE attempt! And, with proper planning and preparation tips, we guarantee that this much time is perfect for cracking the IIT-JEE exam!
